It occurs to me, as I take my leave from various forum roleplays in order to focus on other things, and as I wonder who I will unload all my random thoughts and experiences upon, that I have a blog.
I should probably post in it more often.
For those what care:
Most of my fics are not dead, they are sleeping. I will pick them back up at some point when my focus swings back around their way.
'A Case of Identity' is not dead, it is merely on hiatus, as the computer that I do the images on has been taken over by my stepdad and kicking him off of it on a regular basis is just entirely too much work. Case will, however, be continuing sometime in January.
Related to the last point, I am moving to another state sometime in December, for schooling purposes. I'll be visiting the campus on Friday, and for this purpose am hopping a Greyhound on Wednesday.
This will be my first time traveling somewhere entirely unaccompanied. I'm excited. Since my mom remarried I've traveled alone plenty of times, but I've always met someone once I reach my destination -- usually my family, once my girlfriend's family because I was visiting DC with her. This time it'll be about two and a half days alone in an unfamiliar state. I'm a little trepidatious, naturally, but I'm looking forward to the experience.
It's always been on planes, too, so the Greyhound's another first.
Anyway. Also for those what care, I have in the works an intention to set up a Sherlock Holmes Retrospective/Review/Showcase type 'net show, tentatively to be launched sometime after I'm settled in at the new school. My goal is to find and talk about every piece of Holmesiana in existence, in roughly chronological order. Given that Holmes, since his inception, has become one of the most prolific figures in our modern pantheon, I expect I'll have quite a job -- and I intend to have a lot of fun with it. :3
The show is tentatively called 'However Improbable', but that's a tad obvious, so I'm open to suggestions.
In the meantime, I have two new cats I need to see to, and a bunch of preparations I need to do tomorrow.
Cheers!

New Project
I mentioned this in an older post, but finally decided to go through with it over my last break:
http://caseofidentity.blogspot.com/
'A Case of Identity', as explained in a couple places in that link, is an adventure game that I'll be working on in my free time as a de-stressing agent. Anyone who happens to be watching this blog is encouraged to head over there and maybe kick off participation. If not, well, I'll BS stuff to post until I find someone I can browbeat into playing.
Hopefully, it'll be as fun for other folk as it will be for me.

Altering the Asylum
So, it's been ten months since I posted anything in here. I got tired of writing John's journal because too much stuff kept happening each 'day'. In short, he had a mental breakdown, developed shapeshifting powers, became a demigod, and then the other gods got annoyed and took his powers away, and then we started a D&D 3.5 game instead.
Since the gaming-blog idea was too constricting and I lost interest pretty quickly, I've decided to change this blog into just a plain ol' writing blog. And possibly an art blog, and a rant blog, whatever else I happen to feel like posting in here, really. It'll start as a writing blog, though, with a little BBCSher/Inception crossover fic I wrote recently.

OOC: Brief Update
Apologies for not updating in awhile. There's a short list of reasons, not the least of which being that I have midterms over the next week, and that I discovered the Slenderman mythos and haven't been able to sleep properly since Sunday.
Fucking Slenderman.
Anywho. Point is, I haven't been updating like I should, and I'm sorry. Expect to see updates start again either tomorrow or Thursday, Friday at the outside.

OOC: Pages! Well, Page.
Off to the right there, some more observant readers might notice, there's a little something new. It's not particularly ostentatious, though, so I thought I'd highlight it: There is now an 'About the Characters' page. At present, it contains a fairly short profile of John.
I know that, as the author, I'm wont to lose track of what information I've given to the audience and what I haven't. So do please give it a look, and consider: What do you want to know that isn't there? What information seems superfluous? Do you want to know more or less about his stats, about the other players/characters, or his personality and/or background?
Edit as of 22 November 2012: Since this is no longer a blog about John's exploits in gaming, I'm removing the Page, so I'll just copy-pasta the one profile down below the cut here.

Welcome Mat
Why hello there, and welcome! I'm Cryptix, and I have no idea who you are, but you've clearly stumbled upon my humble blog somehow or another, so I suppose I ought to do the polite thing and tell you what to expect from it.
The point of this blog isn't to post videos, copy-pasta amusing things from elsewhere on the internets, rant about one current event or another, or go on at length about some trivial aspect of my life that I really shouldn't be expounding upon to total strangers in any case. I'm not so much into those sorts of things. What I am into is writing, drawing, and roleplaying -- and it's those aspects of my life that I'm looking to combine into this blog. My plan is to novelize the adventures of my roleplaying characters and post them here, perhaps adding pictures when the muse strikes me. If I'm lucky, I might even get a couple of comics out.
Most of these posts will be from the first-person perspective of one of my characters, and who it is will be somehow specified in the title of the post. Once in awhile I might post something for myself, in which case I'll put a nice big 'OOC' there in the title. More housekeeping and organizational tricks might pop up in the future. I'll keep you posted.
Unless specified otherwise, these POV characters and any art that goes up belongs to me. I lay no claim to the events or settings, being as these are (largely) pen-and-paper rpgs. Also, unless stated otherwise, any phone numbers, addresses, websites, usernames, or emails that are mentioned in an in-character post are entirely fictional. Also, there will be cursing as I feel it's necessary. I don't censor myself or my characters in text.
No, I won't put a tl;dr version of this down. This is a writing blog. If you can't stand reading four reasonably-sized paragraphs, you probably don't belong here.
One last thing: Feedback and constructive criticisms are not only welcomed but adored.
Editing as of 22 November 2012: Yeah, that bit in the second paragraph about how this isn't for going on at length about trivial aspects of my life? Ignore that. Also the whole third paragraph, ignore that one too.
I'd just rewrite this post in its entirety, but I kind of like to preserve things for posterity.
